Cover & Double Spreads – Auto & Sex – Auto Motor Sport Magazine

Auto Sex – Cover-Shot and “double spreads” for Auto, Motor & Sport Magazine. Special lifestyle edition Gentleman (SK). The “Auto, Motor & Sport” magazine is the most famous car magazine in Germany and one of the leading automotive publications in Europe at all. Published by Motor Press International Stuttgart and released in numerous European countries.

One photograph went on the cover and 2 images have been used inside the magazine, each printed on a double page. The images have been used to illustrate the ‘Auto & Sex’ cover story. “Auto Sex” – written by a woman – a funny essay and statistic about the sexual behaviour of car drivers subject to the car brand they own.

Most fascinating:  The Auto and Sex magazine cover features the portrait of a 39 years old female model. For both female ‘models’ it was their first time ever in front of a professional cam. No assistants, no flash or any other additional equipment was used. Not even a make-up artist was necessary. Just available and natural light. Photoshop was used only to remove minor flaws. And both models did make it onto (and into) one of Europe’s leading car magazines on her first act. Technically spoken, the critical point was the white headscarf of the model. I’ve developed a very special (but quite simple) method for the exposure measurement in situations like these, without interrupting models (and me too) in the ‘flowing act’.
